Hey!
We've Booked up Japan in November and I just wanted to double check we are making the right choice with JR pass... here’s our plan;
Days 1-4: Tokyo (no JR Pass, just use IC card) with plan for day trip to Nikko on one day.
Day 5: Head to Kyoto, activating 7 day JR Pass
Day 5-9: Kyoto, with day trips to Nara & Osaka (JR Pass)
Day 10: Kyoto to Hakone (JR Pass)
Day 11: Hakone to Tokyo for final day.

Which JR Pass should I get for those 7 days, have I missed anything? And is Hakone free pass included in any package?

Thanks in advance!

Michael

Hi Michael,

I would use the 7-day JR Pass like this as well, you get the best use out of the pass this way.

The Hakone Free Pass is a separate pass and has to be purchased separately. Still you can save on this pass by using the JR Pass to go to Odawara and buying the Hakone pass from Odawara (and not Tokyo), and the price will be a bit lower.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
