Hello.

Can I buy regional passes after arriving in Japan?
If so, where I can buy it?
Is there price difference?

One of regional passes I want to buy is Wide Kansai Area.
Can I use it for train from Kyoto to Okayama?
I read that it doesn't cover Sanyo Shinkansen.

I also wonder if I can buy two same passes and use them on different dates (e.g. 18.09-22.09 and 25.09-29.09).

Regards.

Hi there,

There are a select number of regional passes that can be bought when in Japan, and typically these tend to cost more there, so my recommendation would be to purchase whatever regional pass you plan on purchasing online.

Yes, the Kansai WIDE Area Pass can be used to travel between Okayama and Kyoto. The pass covers the Shinkansen between Okayama and Osaka, and so from Osaka you'll have to transfer from Shinkansen to a Ltd. Express service to Kyoto. These only take 15-30 minutes so shouldn't be a big problem.

Yes, you are able to purchase two of the same regional pass for separate dates!

Kind regards,

Alexis

Thank you.
Of course I made a mistake, it should be Tokaido Shinkansen.
Is there any list with regional passes one can buy onsite?
And where to buy them? Railway station?
