Would the JR pass be worth it for a late December/Early January trip? Also, could I still get the old fare price?

Hello! I am taking a trip to Japan with my partner in later December. We will be landing in Tokyo, Japan on December 30th and leaving on January 15th. The loose itinerary is as follows:

Tokyo -- December 30th - January 7th. Ideally put in a day trip to Nagano.
Kyoto -- January 8th - 11th.
Hiroshima 11th - 14th. Just to experience it a bit and checkout Miyajima.
Tokyo 14th-15th for early flight.

The itinerary is not set in stone, but I think these would make for a lovely trip.

Now, my main concern is the dates. Is there any possible way to still get the current JR pass price even though We wouldn't be getting into Tokyo until 5PM on December 30th? It just wouldn't be worth it any other way.

Hi there,

I honestly would not risk it. There's a chance your flight is delayed on the 30th, which would not be fun.

I'd take certainty, over a possible discount.

Kind regards,
Daniel
