Hey guys, I've checked the forum, but I think my question is specific.

My family (5) is giong to Japan for 14 days. We plan on visiting Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka and back to Tokyo. We wont need a pass for every days so Should we just get one for 3-4 days?

Also, if you get a 3-4 day pass, do they run consecutively or can you choose the days you want to use it?

Thanks
Jatin

Hi Jatin,

Happy to help you with that specific question :)

Each pass is counted in consecutive days, so the pass counts down by one each day, even when you do not use it. If you plan on doing a 14 day trip, then my advise would be to see if you can do your long distance travel, like Tokyo - Kyoto/Osaka within the validity period of the pass. Note that the JR Pass only comes in 7, 14 or 21 days (there is no 3 or 4 days).

Alternatively, you could look at buying normal tickets for the route if you don't want to be bound by a usage period.

Kind regards,
Daniel
