Hi all!

I am going to Tokyo in May and would like to ask if a 14 day JR pass would suffice for a 18 day trip. Here's my itinerary:

8 May - reach Tokyo 5pm
9 May - Ghibli Museum + day trip to Hitachi
10 May - day trip to Ashikaga Flower Park
11 May - Hakone
12 May - Hakone, reaching Kawaguchiko at night
13 May - Kawaguchiko
14 -15 May - Kyoto
16 May - Arashiyama
17 May - Nara
18 May - Universal Studios Japan
19 May - Osaka (Osaka castle, Dotonburi)
20 May - Kobe in the morning, Himeiji in the late afternoon
21 May - Hiroshima
22 May - Kanazawa
23 May - Kanazawa, Shirakwago
24 May - Takayama
25 May - Takayama + going back to Tokyo at night
26 May - Return home

We have already booked half the accommodations so the itinerary is less flexible. Would like to hear any suggestions!

Thank you!

Hi there,

Yes, a 14 day JR Pass would work well for your trip. You have most long and expensive travel near the end of your trip, so I would make sure to use the JR Pass there. You could then use normal tickets near the start of your travel to travel around Tokyo. Within Hakone, a Hakone Free Pass would be possible.

Looks great for the rest!

Have a good trip,
Daniel
