Hi, probably a silly question, but If I get a pass activated Dec 18, ehn will it finish? I want to travel Dec 18 to Jan 7 and that is exactly 21 days, so is it time dependant or 0001 am Dec 18 to 11.59 Jan 7?

Hi there,
Each pass is counted in days, and the first day is counted as a full day, no matter when you start using it. For instance, starting the JR Pass on a Monday, means it will then end on a Sunday.
Activating the pass on Dec 18th, would mean the 21-day pass expires on Jan 7th 23:59
