I have used regional passes previously and, once activated, you can travel for 7 days within a defined period but those days do not have to be consecutive. With the JR Pass, does the same apply where we can activate the pass on arrival and over the next 12 days, travel on 7 separate days using the pass?

Hi there,
The JR Pass (and most regional passes), are counted in consecutive days. Meaning, they start counting down from day one of use.
For example, starting the JR Pass on a Monday, means the last day of travel is the following Sunday.
I hope that answers your question :)
