Hi.
We have received our vouchers for two 7-Day JR Passes to use when we visit Japan in September. We are scheduled to arrive at Narita Airport at 11.10am on Wednesday September 25th, so would expect to activate our JR Pass around midday that day.
We have tentative plans to be in Tokyo, Kyoto, Hiroshima and Miyajima over the next week. I am thinking to return from Miyajima via Hiroshima to Tokyo on the morning of Wednesday October 2nd. Is that possible? When does the 7-day period expire?
Many thanks

Hi there,

The JR Pass is counted in days and each day is counted as a full day, no matter what time you start using it. As such, activating the JR Pass on the 25th would mean that the last day of use is October 1st.

I recommend buying a one way ticket into Tokyo and then use your JR Pass for your long distance travel.

Kind regards,
Daniel
