Hi!

I would appreciate your advice on our itinerary below - is it too much travelling? We would prefer to go to Kinosaki rather than Koyasan, but wondering if it's too far away?

Please can you also advise which is best pass for our itinerary? I initially thought to get the 14 day pass, but now reading about regional passes, so thinking maybe 7 day pass and regional pass for Osaka to Tokyo?

Thanks so much for your help!

Day 1-3 : Tokyo
Day 4: Tokyo - Hakone (activate pass)
Day 5: Hakone - Kyoto
Day 8: Kyoto - Hiroshima
Day 10: Hiroshima - Koyasan or Kinosaki?
Day 11: Kinosaki or Koyasan - Osaka
Day 12: Osaka - Nara (day trip)
Day 13: Osaka - Tokyo

Hi there,

Going to Kinosaki or Koyasan is surprisingly similar in travel time and there's not a lot of difference between the two. You'd be fine going to Kinosaki-Onsen if that is your preferred choice. The trip is more comfortable and scenic too with higher class Ltd. Express trains in the Kansai area.

In terms of a a Japan Rail Pass, the 14 day JR Pass is an easy choice here. No other pass covers travel from Tokyo - Hakone - Kyoto and Osaka - Tokyo, add in all the travel in between and you've got a rather good deal.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
