I'm planning to be in Japan for 14 days and plan to travel in Tokyo, Fuji, Kyoto, Osaka, Hiroshima and Okayama. So, I plan to buy a Japan Rail Pass.

  1. Is Japan Rail Pass right for me?
  2. I plan to leave Tokyo late on a day to visit Fuji. Plan is to reach Hakone or Kawaguchiko late on the day, stay overnight, visit Fuji and surrounds the next day and leave late pn the day to Kyoto. What's my best itinerary as I want to make most of the Japan Rail Pass?

Hi there,

Assuming, you travel back to Tokyo after Okayama, then yes a JR Pass will work very well for your trip.

Travel around the lake Fujikawaguchiko area is not covered by the JR Pass. You can however reach Hakone by Shinkansen and JR Pass by going directly to Odawara station. If you plan on doing more than that, you may want to look at a Hakone Free Pass.

Kind regards,
Daniel
