Hi there!
Here are some answers:
1- can i use trains SHINKANSEN NOZOMI 122 or SHINKANSEN HIKARI 474 ?
The JR Pass is valid on all shinkansen except the Nozomi or Mizuho service. In practice, there are always equivalent Hikari, Kodama and Sakura service trains that run on the same line as these services so you have full coverage on all JR bullet train lines even if some services are not available for you to use.
2- what is JR Special Rapid Service?
You'll also come across Rapid and Local trains in Japan. Local trains stop at all stations, and Rapid stop at fewer stations. Special Rapid serviecs stop at the fewest stations along a given route. Effectively they are similar to 'Express' trains in other countries and stop only at the main towns along a route.
3 how i recognise trains, bus or something where i can use jrp?
In general aside from the Nozomi and Mizuho shinkansen services you are free to use all JR trains. You can find the full validity on our validity page. You can look up train timetables and costs at the Hyperdia travel planning website and learn how to use Hyperdia for Japan Rail Pass holders through our video blog.
Hope this helps!
yes this helps :) thanks
But how i recognize trains on stations, when i'll wait for my train- theire are special signature, or color- and on the station names of trains destination will be write English or Japanese?
and another question- if i bought my JRP and when system asked me from when i wont to use this ticket- i decidet to 7.03-. so this is the date from this day i can only use this JRP. Or its work since i'll go to exchange offices?
Hi there,
yes - in most mainline stations the signage is in dual Japanese and English, as it is on the trains too, so you should have no problems with that. On some older trains you may have to ask the JR station staff, but only in isolated areas.
The date of use we ask for is for a guide only. As JR Pass can only be used wihtin 3 months of the date of purchase, we ask you this question to check that you will use the rail pass within the valid period. As you will be travelling soon you will have no problems.
You can start your rail pass anytime within 3 months from the date of purchase marked on the ticket.
Hope this helps!
