Difference among trains

I am working on our travel plan. We are going from Tokyo to Hiroshima and from Hiroshima to Kyoto.
In the first one I see we can use a Hikari train but from Hiroshima to Kyoto the train type is Nozomi, which we can not take with our railpass.
the question is. Is Nozomi a non stop?
if we take any train through the Tokaido line, will we be able to get to Kyoto?
What are the differences between train types?

Hi there,

The Nozomi is not non-stop but has a fewest stops on the route compared to other services like the Hikari and Kodama. As explained on the Japan Rail Pass page, the Nozomi is not included but you can use any other Shinkansen service. You will for instance be able to use the Hikari Shinkansen on the Tokaido Shinkansen between Tokyo - Kyoto. The time difference is only 19 minutes with the Nozomi. Other than the amount of stops the train makes, there are no other differences.
