Hi,
I am going to visit Japan in July with my 3 grown children, arriving at Narita airport, we will take the Narita Express train to Tokyo station, and then take the Bullet train to Kyoto, will do sightseeing in Kyoto, such as Arashiyama, Fushimi Inari Shrine, Kiyomizu-dera Temple, Kinkakuji Temple and Gion.
So, we will stay in Kyoto for 3 days, then back to Tokyo, and maybe 1 day tour to see mt.Fuji, and spend the rest of 3 days in Tokyo.
My question is, do we need tickets for JR Pass?, Is it cheaper for 4 people to go around by taking Taxi then taking the train?

Thank You.

Hi there,

The cost of a 7 day JR Pass is about the same as a normal return ticket Tokyo - Kyoto using the Shinkansen. With the Japan Rail Pass, you get 7 days of travel for the same price.

From there any additional travel is basically free :)

Hope this helps,
Daniel
