Hi: When I buy a 7 day pass, do I need to pay additional money for seat fees? I plan to travel Narita-Kyoto, Kyoto-Takayawa, and then Takayawa to Tokyo. I hope to buy a first class pass but would like to know how much extra i will have to pay to reserve seats on the trains, and any other additional costs.
Many thanks

Hi Maggie,

The Japan Rail Pass will totally cover you for all the journeys you mention, so you won't have to pay any extra than the cost of the pass.

All Japan rail pass holders are entitled to totally free seat reservations, and do not have to pay any seat fees. The cost of travel is totally covered on all valid trains and buses.

Hope this helps!
