Hi there,
I will be buying a 7 day JR rail pass for my second week in Japan. If I exchange the pass as soon as I arrive in Japan does it start straight away so that I can use it to reserve seats on trains for the following week? Or will that mean that the 7 days has started too early?

Hi Nicola,
You can select your own starting date and you do not have to start using it right away.
Once you have done so in Japan, then you can start making seat reservations as well.
