Thank you so much for the feedback. I am now wondering if I should maybe just get a 14 day pass, because when we are in Kyoto and Osaka I think we can get around without a pass.

Or otherwise we'll just get the Shinkansen tickets as we need them, but I have done some searching, and to me it seems like it's not so easy. you have to buy the tickets three days in advance, and there is another ticket you have to buy with the Shinkansen ticket? Maybe I misunderstood? Also, since we're travelling in April, it is very busy and one needs to rather get the Green tickets?

I'm so sorry for all these questions, but my daughter and I will be traveling alone, and I do realize that being in another country will have some interesting challenges, I just want to try and get the traveling done, so that at least we don't have to waste our precious time in this beautiful county struggling toon much getting around.

We'll buy a Welcome Suica card at Haneda, which should work on most other modes of transport, right?

Hi there,

What does your itinerary look like? If you are making several journeys using the Shinkansen I would recommend purchasing a JR Pass. If you think you'll have a problem with purchasing tickets the JR Pass does also have a functional purpose to bear in mind to make planning your journey a lot easier.

Green cars tend to be a lot more quiet and a lot less busy, and so if you prioritise comfort and quiet then it's definitely something to consider, especially during this busy time.

A suica card is a great option that will work in most major cities on buses, metro etc.

Hope this helps!

Alexis
