Hi,
My family is visiting Japan in mid Dec. We are not sure if JR Pass is the best option for our travel plan as follows:
Narita airport to Nagai
Nagano to Ainokura village
Ainokura to Tokyo (Toshima-ku)
Tokyo to Narita airport

Base on this itinerary, is buying the JR Pass the best option for our transport in terms of cost ? If not what other options are there ? I heard there are other passes like SUICA or PASMO. Are these any good ?

Greatly appreciate if you could advise me.

Thanks heaps !

Hi there,

Yes, a 7-day Japan Rail Pass would be a very good option here, that is assuming you can make the trip and return to Tokyo station before the pass expired.

Suica (or similar) is an electronic way of payment for rides, its convenient but will not give you any kind of discount.

Kind regards,
Daniel
