Hi there,

Good day to you ...

I’ll be travelling to Japan in 3 weeks time & would be glad if you could kindly assist to advise how many days JR Pass is recommended for my itinerary.
And I’ll be using Tokyo (Akebonobashi) as my base.

Day 1- Arrive at Haneda airport
Day 2 to 3 - Nagano (pending)
Day 4 - Kawagoe
Day 5 - Hakone (Mount Ashi)
Day 6 - Nikko
Day 7 - Atami
Day 8 - Okayama / Kurashiki
Day 9 - Kyoto
Day 10 - Kobe / Kyoto
Day 11- Nagoya ( Takayama to Shirakawa-go)
Day 12 - Tokyo
Day 13 - Nagatoro (Saitama Prefecture)
Day 14 - Narita International Airport

Should I get a 7 day JR pass ( combine using the subway & single trip JR train tickets) ?

Or a 14 day JR pass is a much better choice ?

Your kind assistance will be much appreciated.
Once again, thank you & have a Great New Year 2020.

Cheers,
Janice

Hi Janice,

You are traveling actively throughout your two weeks in Japan and a 14-day JR Pass would be an easy choice. You could also easily add Nagano, as there would be no additional cost to get there using the JR Pass.

Looks like a great plan all together - Happy New year!
Daniel
