Yay! I have booked my flight to Japan for next May!
2 places are in my plan - Teteyama Alpine route and Ashikaga Flower Park. I have read on the internet that I can get a JR East Nagano Niigata Area pass for travelling from Tokyo to Nagano. While for Ashikaga Park, I can take a JR ride from Tokyo to Oyama. My question is: Is there a JR pass that can cover both trips over a period of 5 days?
Hi there,
Now that's good news I love to hear!
There's not a regional pass that covers both the Tateyama Alpine route & travel to the Ashikaga flower work. For this two routes, I think the best option would be to use a 7-day Japan Rail Pass. You'd still have to cover transport along the Alpine route itself, but the main cost, actually getting to the route, would be covered.
Add to that free transport to/from the airport and the local JR Network in Tokyo, and you'd make nice savings.
Kind regards,
Daniel
Thanks Daniel for the information.
While waiting for your reply, I have learnt that there're night buses from Tokyo to Nagano which is a cheaper option. So I think I will just get on the bus for the outbound journey from Tokyo, and take the Shinkansen for the return journey. This way I won't need to get a pass but can still save a bit.
