If I activate my 7 day pass by taking the first journey in the late afternoon, say 5pm on Day 1, does my pass expire at 5pm on Day 8 or at midnight on Day 7?

Hi there,
Japan Rail Pass validity is measured per day rather than on an hourly basis. This means that if you activate your rail pass on Day 1 (at any time), it will expire at midnight on Day 7.
Hope this helps!
