JR Pass Meet and Greet Narita Terminal 2

Hi there,

We are arriving in early April at 4:20pm and want to pick up and exchange our passes and then head to Kyoto.

Originally we had a morning flight so we had plenty of time but now we have this afternoon arrival which means the last train to Kyoto is 3 hours after we arrive.

We are considering booking the JR pass meet and greet, but I wanted to understand does it actually save any time? Like do you “skip the queue” or is the person just lined up with you?

Has anyone exchanged a JR pass recently at Narita and can give an idea of wait times?

Cheers

Ash

Hi Ash,

4:20pm is a bit on the late side, but should be doable. On a normal day, you clear immigration and luggage collection in about an hour.

With Meet and Greet, there is no hard benefit like skip the queue, but your attended can do the queue for you (while you do something else), and in urgent situations explain the situation to the JR Staff, which may help move things forward. Our staff also knows where to go, so you don't lose time getting around on the airport.

That said, if you want to arrive relaxed, consider booking a hotel for the first night in Tokyo or somewhere along the way like Nagoya. This will give you a lot more flexibility in case of a flight delay, or a long immigration queue or something else unforeseen.

Kind regards,
Daniel

Thanks Daniel! This is very helpful.

The change in flight schedule from JAL is unfortunate, hopefully we can make the 3 hours work as our accommodation in Kyoto is already booked as part of a week long stay. If it isn’t doable I will just have to book somewhere else to stay for the night.
