Hello JR Pass Team,

I'm interested in acquiring a 7-day JR Pass for use in November 2023. My plan is to commence the JR Pass usage with an overnight journey on the Sunrise Seto's Nobi Nobi Seat, departing from Shin-Osaka at 00:34 and arriving in Tokyo at 7:08 AM. If I were to board the train on 28 November at 00:34, I'd like to clarify whether 28 November is considered the first day of pass usage, or if it commences when we check-in at the train station on 27 November at midnight?

Additionally, I'd like to confirm if the JR Pass, if purchased today 26 Sep 2023, remains valid for two months from the date of purchase?

Hi there,

The JR Pass is valid from midnight till midnight, so this would work. That's assuming you do get seat reservations for the Sunrise express, as these are extremely popular and may sell out weeks in advance.

JR Pass vouchers purchased through www.jrpass.com are valid for 3 months after issue date.
