JRPass in Hokkaido

Hi. I want to take a shinkansen from Tokyo to Hakodate and form there to keep on moving by trains to Sapporo and Abashiri. Just to be 100% sure, if i purchase the JRpass it also covers the trains in Hokkaido? there is no need in purchasing a Hokkaido Rail Pass too, right?

The JR Pass covers all trains in Hokkaido, it is as simple as that :)
