Hi,
Hope you are well.
I am travelling from Tokyo to Mount Fuji to Kyoto to Tokyo. What are the best routes using the Japan Rail Pass? And also how long will each journey take? Would I be better off booking single/return trips upon arrival to Japan?

Hello Emma,

Traveling to Tokyo and Kyoto is easy and straightforward as you can travel directly between them using the Shinkansen. Going to Fuji is a bit more complicated, as there are different approaches you can take. We have details here:

In general, a 7 day Japan Rail Pass would work well with your itinerary, the cost of the pass is about the same as a normal return ticket Tokyo - Kyoto using the Shinkansen. Now you get 7 days of unlimited travel for the same price :)
