We will be traveling from Tokyo to Kyoto with a stop in Hakone to travel only from Odawara Station to Togendai via the Hakone train then cable car then Ropeway. We will buy a Hakone pass for that region. My question is the trip from Odawara Station to Kyoto. We will be purchasing a JR pass for two weeks. Where and how do I purchase the train ticket for the Hikari Express train and is it included with my pass? Can I do it in advance online while we are still in Tokyo as it will be cherry blossom season next April 6, 2027? Thank you

Hi there,

Yes, the Shinkansen Hikari is fully covered by the JR Pass! Once you exchange your voucher in Japan and set your start date, you can make a seat reservation for the Odawara - Kyoto leg at Tokyo Station, Odawara Station, or any JR ticket office prior to departure.
