We plan to visit Japan for 10days during winter 2023. We are a family of 3 adults and 4 children (2 teenager (16), 13 and 10 yrs old).
We will be entering/leaving Japan via Narita. 2 days at Disneyland and private day tour to Mt Fuji (or should we save the cost and use the JR pass?). We plan to travel to Kyoto (Kiyomizu dera), Osaka(?), maybe Matsumoto castle. To avoid the hassle of moving too much, we may base at Kyoto for a few nights. Do u think this is a gd idea? Or would u be able to recommend some other nearby attractions or alternatives?
Lastly and most importantly, with the above itinery which pass do we buy, JR or Regional pass. We understand that JR pass may not be fully covered for the journey mentioned above, how do we know what, where and how much to top up? With the 7days pass (assuming we get JR) do we activate the pass from the day we touched Japan or later since we will be spending 2 days at Disneyland.
