On May 23rd, we are traveling from Tokyo, Ginza area, and would like to go to Mt. Fuji 5th station and then on to our Hotel in Hakone. We need to be at hour hotel by 5PM at the latest.

Is it possible to do this and can you tell me the route. We plan to purchase a JR 7 day pass and an Hakone Free Pass.

Hi there,

First I recommend checking which Fuji 5th station you wish to go to. There are 4 places called 5th station around Fuji. These are all basecamp station for hikers going up Fuji and not train stations. You'll have to use a bus or car to get to them.

This would also affect how you'd visit Hakone.

My advice drop the Fuji 5th station entirely and spend your time enjoying Hakone. The 5th station is only interesting if you want to hike up Fuji, there's not much else to see and do. Hakone has plenty of see and do and you can enjoy the view of Fuji from there too.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
