Hello there,
I see/read that the holders of JR Pass can travel free on Narita Express. My question is, does the JR Pass have to be activated to use N'EX? Or simply, that you have have the JR Pass? I will arrive at NRT, pick up my JR Pass at the airport exchange and plan to activate JR Pass a few days later, after spending some time in Tokyo.
Please let me know.
Thank you!

Hello Tej,

Yes, your pass needs to be activated and valid to use the Narita Express (or any other train).

Kind regards,
Daniel

Thank you Daniel,

I had expected that, but just wanted to be sure that Nartia Express service was not available outside of the activated, valid duration of JR Pass. I was earlier thinking of JR Pass for intercity travels across Japan and N'EX service as an "added benefit" for airport connection to Tokyo.

Thanks again for your clarifying response,
Tej

I agree, that would have been awesome.
