I need help with my itinenary. Will be arriving in japan on 2 Nov.
Plan of travel : matsumoto -kamikochi- noriko korgen - shirawago- takayama- kyoto -nara- osaka-kobe- kyoto-tokyo for 14days. How many days is advisable to get a jr pass? Would it be more cost effective to purchase separate rail pass?

Hi there,
It would depend on how many days you spend in each city, you may want to look at using the 7-day japan Rail Pass and use it to cover your longer travels, assuming it includes the longer outes in your trip.
