Hello :)

Below is my tentative 13 days itinerary for tokyo-kyoto-osaka..

Day 1 - arrival from Haneda
Day 2 - Kawaguchiko
Day 3 - Kyoto
Day 4 - Kyoto
Day 5- Kyoto
Day 6 - Osaka
Day 7 - Osaka
Day 8- Osaka ( day trip to Nara)
Day 9 - Tokyo
Day 10 - Tokyo
Day 11- Tokyo
Day 12 - Tokyo
Day 13 - depart at Haneda

1) pls advise if my planned route is doable?

2) on which day shud i activate my JR pass assuming im taking the 7 days pass?

3) any suggestions to improvise my plan in ensuring full use of the pass usage?

Hi there,

1.) Yes, looks very doable to me :)

2.) I would activate it on the day that you travel to Kyoto, this way you also cover the return to Tokyo.

3.) Making day trips is key to making the best use of your pass. For instance, you could hop on the Shinkansen from Kyoto or Osaka and make a visit to Himeji, to see Himeji castle and gardens. It is considered the most beautiful castle in Japan.
