Dear Daniel San,

We re traveling for a total of 11 days in Japan, Tokyo , fujikawaguchiko, Kyoto , day trip to Osaka then from Kyoto back to Tokyo. Can you recommend us which pass is good for our trip ? Our itinerary is as follow :

Day 1 : touch down in haneda

Day 2 to day 4 : stay & travel within Yamanote line

Day 5 & 6 : from shinjuku to fujikawaguchiko

Day 7 : from fujikawaguchiko to Kyoto
(Question : is there direct JR from fujikawaguchiko to Kyoto?)

Day 8 : one day trip to Osaka
(Question : can the JR pass used from Kyoto to Osaka for round trip?)

Day 9 : In Kyoto (can the JR pass used in Kyoto?)

Day 10 & 11: travel back to Tokyo.

Last question : which JR pass suitable for our itinerary ?

Hi there,

I checked your itinerary, and you'd break about even with a 7-day JR Pass. You could still consider it, as it certainly has its perks and convenience, but I'm not sure if it would make a real difference for your trip.

For travel to/from Kawaguchiko, please see here. It is quite a complicated route and different transfers and types of transport.

The JR Pass would cover travel to Osaka, Kyoto and back to Tokyo.
