I'm visiting Japan in the end of March, will be arriving at Narita airport, couple a days of Tokyo then to Kyoto for a couple of days and then going back to Tokyo again. Mabey we want to visit Osaka in one of the days. Should I be a JR Railpass? An can I use it on the trains in Tokyo? We are going to do a lot of sightseeing!

Thanks in Regard!

Hi there,

A JR Pass would be worth considering for your trip because the cost of a 7 day Japan Rail Pass is almost the same to the cost of a return ticket Tokyo - Kyoto using the Shinkansen. Add a side trip or two and the Japan Rail Pass will help you make savings for sure. The JR Pass also covers local JR lines around Tokyo, Osaka and to a limited extent in Kyoto.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

Thanks for answering! Will be staying for a total of 21 days.
So stated couple of days wrong I guess. First 7days in Tokyo then 6days Kyoto then 7 days Tokyo again and last night in Narita due early flights..

Can't wait to visit Japan!

Hi again :)

That's a really nice amount of time! The advice above still applies, as you could use the 7 day JR Pass for travel to Kyoto and back to Tokyo. Then buy local tickets for Tokyo, unless you plan on doing more intercity travel.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
