Tokyo to Sapporo

Hi there,

For travel times, I recommend learning to plan with Hyperdia this way you can find any route/timetable and more. It's a great tool for planning with the JR Pass. We also have a useful interactive map with all JR lines included.

The JR Pass is also valid around Hokkaido, unless you will go to many other cities in Hokkaido, a JR Hokkaido would not be needed. I don't think you'll have a problem with your bags.

Hi Daniel,
I booked my flight tickets last night and will be travelling with my 2 girls, 10 and 12, from later Nov to 9 Dec. Flying in to Tokyo narita and flying out from Hokkaido. I only intend to get the 7 days pass as I only have 11-12 days there. Pls advise how can I maximise the use of my jr pass for long distance travel and what suggestions do you have for me.

1. I plan to cover nara park, nagano snow monkey, and the theme parks while in Tokyo.

2. What is interesting for my kids in hakodate? Plan to stay 1 full day there before moving to Sapporo.

3. Plan to go to bear park, zoo, music box museum, white chocolate lover factory in Hokkaido. Pls advise on my journey.

1.) This is a lot of travel, each place will take hours to reach. I recommend checking each trip to see if you are okay with the travel times involved.

2.) Hakodate, going up to Mt. Hakodate is super beautiful, visit the fish market in the morning where children can catch their own fish and eat after. Also fort Goryukaku is very nice to walk around in.

3.) You can use the Super Hakucho train directly from Hakodate to Sapporo.

I more or less confirmed my itinerary and need your advise if i should get the 7 days or 14 days pass?

Day 1 & 2 Arrive from Narita Intl Airport & Chiba Mother Farm
Day 3 & 4 Tokyo Disney Resorts
Day 5 Nagano ( Snow monkey)
Day 6 Gotemba Factory Outlet
Day 7 & 8 Hakodate
Day 9 to 11 Sapporo & Otaru
Day 12 New Chitose Airport

Do you think i need to get 14 days pass or can i get 7 days pass for first 7 days and use IC card within Hokkaido?
