Hi there,
The exact trains you board will depend on the time of day you choose to travel, but a rough itinerary would look something like:
- Narita airport terminal 1 > Tokyo: ¥2740, (62mins, 79km)
- Tokyo > Nagano: ¥7770, (105mins, 222km)
- Nagano > Tokyo: ¥7770, (106mins, 222km)
- Tokyo > Aomori: ¥16170, (233mins, 717km)
- Aomori > Niseko: ¥10540, (327mins, 340km)
- Niseko > Tokyo: ¥21430, (603mins, 1057km)
- Tokyo > Narita airport terminal 1: ¥2740, (58mins, 79km)
TOTAL: ¥69160 for 7 legs
This assumes a stop over in Aomori on the way up from Nagano (via Tokyo). If you fancy a more leisurely pace, you could trace up the west coast of honshu, calling in around Sendai and Akita - however to get the most out of these areas I really recommend planning your journey with the help of a good guidebook - due to the weather, these areas are heavily seasonal, so make sure you plan for the winter! Have you thought about using the twilight express sleeper train to get to Hokkaido? It is a great way to meander up the west coast. Although you would have to book in advance, you have 6 days in hand so may be lucky enough to reserve.
You can look up train timetables and costs at the Hyperdia travel planning website and learn how to use Hyperdia for Japan Rail Pass holders through our video blog.
Hope this helps!
