I will be going to a trip in Japan soon and the plan is to go from Tokyo to Hakone to Kyoto to Osaka and back to Tokyo in the end. I was wondering if someone can help with the directions specifically how to get from Odawara station to Hakone and back as from what I have seen it is only possible to use the JR pass to get from Tokyo/shinagawa station to Odawara station and we have to figure out a way to get to Hakone from Odawara station.

TLDR: How to get from Odawara station to Hakone using JR pass if possible, also is it worth it purchasing the JR pass to go from Tokyo to Hakone to Kyoto to Osaka and back to Tokyo.

Hi there,

The first thing to realize is that Odawara is already part of the Hakone region. This is the bullet train station that connects to Tokyo, Kyoto and elsewhere. Odawara will then be your transport hub to explore the Hakone region from.

The best resource I'm aware of is the Getting Around Hakone by Japan Guide. They visualize very well where all the attractions and transport stations/stops are. I could also give you further instructions if you let me know where in Hakone you are planning to go.

The 7 day JR Pass is worth it if you complete your trip within the 7 day period.

I hope this helps :)
Daniel
