My itinerary is below. I’m thinking we ca start the 21 day pass on 29th March for all our travel until leaving Japan on 17th April. But what would I need to get to Tokyo from the airport and to get around Tokyo for the dates 24th March to 29th? I am confused about the additional cards, the PASMO and Suica card, will we need one? HELP!

We will be in Japan from 24th March to 17th April and need a JR pass. This is longer than 21 days.
Our itinerary is as follows but please note , these are only the main journeys, we will have more local journeys in each place.

Itinerary

24th March - Narita Airport to Tokyo SHIODOME
29th March - Tokyo to TAKAYAMA
31st March - TAKAYAMA to Kanazawa
2nd April - Kanazawa to Kiso Fukushima
3rd April - Kiso Fukushima to Osaka
5th April - Osaka to KURASHIKI
8th April - Kurashiki to Kyoto
12th April - Kyoto to Nara to Kyoto Day trip
13th April- Kyoto to Hakonegasaki
15th April- Hakonegasaki to Tokyo
16th April - Tokyo to Mount Fuji to Tokyo Day Trip
17th April - Tokyo to Narita Airport - departing Japan.

We really need your help and advice in this matter as soon as possible please as we wish to purchase our passes very soon. We travel from the UK on 21st March and enter Japan on 24th March 2023.
We look forward to hearing from you,

HELP! Please!

Hi there,

You will be travelling quite regular and visit a wide variety of places in Japan, therefore I think the 21-day Pass is your best option when used from March 28th to April 17th. This would cover all your intercity travel and cover your return to Narita Airport as well. This would even give you the option to add another day trip from Tokyo on the 28th, such as Nikko, Kamakura or Nokogiri yama.

For travel in Tokyo, we generally recommend a Suica card, this is basically a similar to an Oyster card you might find in London, but one that can be used to pay for any kind of transport. It does not give a discount on its own, but does make your travel more convenient.

Hope this helps :)
Daniel
