Hi. I refer to using Hyperdia. Does "seat fee" apply only if we reserve a seat?
Eg. Osaka to Hiroshima, It shows a total of 10.620 yen , which comprise of Ticket fee 5720yen + seat fee 4900 yen.
Does JR pass cover the total of 10,620?
One person in our group do not have a pass, what does she have to pay? with and without reserving a seat?
Is this the same using regional pass?
Thank you.

Hi there,

The JR Pass covers the entire fare for your travel, this includes the normal fee, seat fee and reservation fee.

Not that the seat fee is somewhat mistranslated from Japanese and is better seen as a high-speed fee. Travelling on high speed trains, you always have to pay for this without a JR Pass (it is not optional).

Hope this helps,
Daniel
