my collegue an me will be staying in Japan for 11 days and have the following route to take (by train or bus):
Narita - Tokyo
Tokyo - Oyama - Tokyo
Tokyo - Ashikaga - Tokyo
Tokyo - Haneda
Miyazaki Airport - Miyazaki
Miyazaki - Saiki - Miyazaki
Miyazaki - Miyazaki Airport
Haneda - Tokyo
Tokyo - Narita
Is it better to buy the JR pass or buy the tickets extra?

Interesting trip, I guess its for business?
I took a look at the route which you are traveling and think that it would be best to buy the tickets when you travel.
The JR Pass is great if you travel nations wide but by flying to Miyazaki you effectively take the this away.
