Hi,

I will be arriving in Osaka next month and planned to go to Kyoto straight. Intended to stay there for 1 night before travelling to Osaka and stay for 3 nights. After that, planned to go to Fukuoka and stayed for 1 night before departing from Fukuoka Airport.

Can you give me some advice if a 7 days pass is worth it?

Hi there,

Probably for a trip like this a 7 day rail pass (¥28,300) will not be your best option. But to be sure, lets take a look at your costs:

Kansai airport > Kyoto: ¥3490, (75mins, 99km)
Kyoto > Osaka: ¥540, (28mins, 42km)
Osaka > Hakata: ¥14590, (178mins, 626km)

TOTAL: ¥18620 for 3 legs

As you can see, the 7 day pass will not make significant savings over standard JR tickets unless you decide to do more JR travel in addition to the itinerary you list.

A 7 day JR Pass would not pay off. Regular tickets can take you to Hakata Stn., then you need to decide where you will stay. This is the Station area:

You can easily take a subway from Hakata Stn to the airport. However, if you are leaving from the international terminal you must catch a free shuttle bus to take you from the domestic terminals, which is where the subway station stops.
