Hi, I have question pertinent to the above answer because I am travelling first time to Japan and going to Imperial hotel from Narita next month. How hard is it to take another train at Tokyo station for going towards shimbashi not knowing any Japanese ?

Tokyo station has signs in English as well, shimbashi is only 1 station away from Tokyo and is easy to get there.

You can for instance use the Yamanote line. All lines have stops displayed on the platform, so just look for the Yamanote line and check the right direction at the platform.

Anywhere in the Shinkansen is fine, each train car has a separate Suitcase compartment, you can store your luggage there while enjoying the high speed ride.
