Hello, I would be so grateful for any help you can give me with deciding how to get around. We are visiting in October 2026 (I´m planning early:)
This would probably be our itinerary:
Day 1 Travel from Haneda to Osaka,
Day 2-6 Staying in Osaka, day trips to Kyoto, Hiroshima and Miyajama and Nara, as well as getting around Osaka
Day 7 Travel from Osaka to Tokyo
Day 8-14 Staying in Tokyo, getting around the city, day trips to Kamakura and Fujiyoshida
Day 15 Travel to Haneda

I was in Japan a couple of years ago and found the JR Pass along with Suica very convenient. Back then it was considerably cheaper though. I´m thinking it would probably be better to buy a regional pass and paying for individual tickets for Tokyo-Osaka and back.

Thank you so much for your help in advance!!

Best wishes,
Gigi

Hi Gigi,

If you choose to use a combination of a regional pass and individual tickets, I highly recommend the JR Kansai-Hiroshima Area Pass.

Please keep in mind that unlike the Nationwide JR Pass, the exchange locations for this regional pass are limited to the Kansai and Chugoku regions (such as Osaka, Kyoto, Nara, and Hiroshima). You can find the full list of official exchange offices here.

I hope this helps!

Kind Regards,

Mariko
