We would like to go from Tokyo to Nikko on April 17 2017 spend the day in Yayoi festival, and exploring Nikko
and on the same day catch the last train to Kanazawa
1. Should we book in advance?
2. Is this rout doable?
3. Will we have enough time in Nikko for the main touristic sites?

Hi Dana,
1.) You will be traveling during the Sakura season and may see more travelers than usual. Booking tickets 1-2 days in advance would be recommended.
2 and 3.) It is doable but you would spend most of the day on the train. You should ask yourself if you want to do so much travel on a single day, as it would also very much limited your time in Nikko.
