JR pass purchase to activate in November

Hello,
After knowing that JR pass price will be increased after October 1, I have a question regarding the JR pass activating time. If I purchase the JR pass now, an exchange will be delivered in few days. When I visit Japan in November 8, I can activate the exchange and use it. Do I understand it correctly?
