We arrive in Tokyo (HND) on Sept 6, then fly from HND to Fukuoka the same day. We won't need our passes until the 8th. Do I have to activate the passes on the 6th at HND, or can I activate them on the 8th to get the extra use on the 7 day passes?

Hi there,
You can activate your JR Passes at Hakata (Fukuoka) station. There's a special desk at the station for JR Pass users.
