Just need to clarify, I am looking at purchasing a 7 day pass as I will be
in Japan June2-12. If I activated JR pass June 2 and use it that day late afternoon, Will it
be valid till the 8th only?
I would like to go to Osaka and return 9th if pass is still valid

Each day is counted as a full day for the JR Pass, no matter what time you first get on the train.
For example, starting the JR Pass on a Monday, means the last day of travel is the following Sunday till midnight. If you activate the pass on June 2nd, then the last day of travel is the 8th.
