my son will be interning in tokyo, so i would like to know if he can avail the jr pass?
he is from india.
if not is there a way he can save on train tickets when he travels with me across japan.

Hi there,
Unfortunately only foreign visitors who enter Japan under a 14 or 90 day tourist visa are eligible for the JR Pass. There are not many possibilities to get a discount ticket without the JR Pass. To save some money you could travel on a non-reserved seat or buy a ticket at a discount shop that can give you up to 10% discount.
