We plan to take the train between Tokyo and kyoto. Is there space to store our luggage? And if there is space, is there a size limit?
Luggage on the train
Hi,
There is generally space available at the back of the train car, although it is not well spelled out. There is no particular size limit. However, if you think you are bringing a lot and it is going to be a royal pain for you, there are several takuhaibin delivery services available for a small fee that can definitely make your life easier.
Good luck.
Hi there,
The official luggage rules are as follows:
You may bring up to two pieces of baggage on board free of charge. For each bag the total of the length, width and height must not exceed 250 centimeters, the length must not exceed two meters and the weight must be no more than 30 kilograms.
These are more guidelines than rules however and not strictly enforced as you may see on an airplane. In general, you are allowed to bring any reasonable amount of luggage, as long as you do not inconvenience other passengers.
You can store a suitcase in the overhead compartments or at the end of each train car.
Hope this helps,
Daniel
Thank you both so much. This helps a lot.
