I did not see any prompt for inputting a passport number during the ordering process of the JR Rail Pass. Can someone tell me if I needed to?

Hi there,
We do not need your passport details (just first and last name) for orders placed through www.jrpass.com.
Your passport will be checked in Japan, upon activation of the pass.
