Re eligible to purchase JR Pass early

Glad to hear you are planning a trip to Japan.

You are very much in the last few minutes before midnight, by that I mean that you are in the last few days that it may be possible to purchase the pass at the old pricing. The last day that we can issue JR Passes for this price is the 29th of September, this means you'd have to activate the pass on the 27th or 28th when you arrive in Japan.

In short, yes you can, but you have to be absolutely sure to get the timing right.

Sorry but to clarify for sure, if I went online to the jrpass.com site and
purchased / paid for the 4 21 day JR passes on the 27th September, will the pass be issued straight away so that I have :
1. Paid the current price before the price rise
2. Made the cut off date of issue before the price rise as you mentioned before the 29th September
3. Just have made the time to activate the pass on arrival at Heneda on the 27th December?
And if so should I purchase it based on my Australian date or the date from the country where the jrpass.com company is based to ensure that the date of purchase and issue is on the 27th September since I am cutting it close?

Hi Gilb,

What I recommend doing is ordering the pass when you have time, then writing our support team ([email protected]) with your order# and request them to issue your tickets on the 29th.

This way your moment of purchase won't matter, only when we issue your tickets.
