Can the JR pass be upgraded for one leg of the trip, for example from Toyooka to Narita? And if it can does it have to be done when we pick up the pass?

Hi there,
When you say upgrade, I presume you mean upgraded to Green Class. You can pay the seat fee rather than the ticket charge for the Green Car - this can be done when making reservations after you've picked up the pass.
